The way we work has changed dramatically. While COVID-19 accelerated the shift to remote work, the underlying drivers were already in place: an explosion in online collaboration technologies that make remote work easier than ever; increasing awareness of the environmental, business, and personal costs of herding people into an office every day; a growing need for specialized talent that can only be satisfied by hiring people regardless of where they live; and growing pressures for economic efficiency and fast turnaround that reward a globally integrated workforce. Companies are rapidly shifting their workplace policies and becoming more flexible in allowing employees to work away from the office both part-time and full-time, and we are completely rethinking the way we do our jobs. It is clear that remote work is here to stay—and that’s a good thing. But while working from home offers many advantages, it also poses new professional challenges, even for those with strongly established productivity systems. Robert C. Pozen, an expert on workplace productivity, and Alexandra Samuel, a digital productivity writer, have collaborated to offer a comprehensive road map on effective remote work. Each section of this book is filled with tips backed by research and methodology—along with specific, actionable strategies and solutions—allowing you to read everything in order or cherry-pick the guidance that is most immediately useful to you. Readers will learn, among other things: ---How to establish a daily routine when working from home ---How to use online productivity and collaboration tools to help you prioritize your goals ---How to effectively multitask and overcome constraints on your personal productivity ---How to focus on the final product and achieve great results ---How to establish a work-life balance ---How to run effective online meetings ---How to manage information intake in order to avoid overloading yourself ---How to manage a team and your own boss when working remotely ---How to plan your career and maintain a work-life balance in the context of remote work With Remote, Inc., those who are eager to acclimate to this remote work environment will be able to boost their productivity, develop new work habits, and find a renewed balance between work and personal life.
